Why Carlos Sainz didn’t join Redbull or Mercedes?
Carlos Sainz Jr currently driving for Ferrari Formula 1 team has announced that he will be leaving the team at the end of the 2024 season. It is confirmed that he will be joining Williams Racing from 2025 onwards, but the main question that came up was why he didn’t join any top-tier team like Redbull or Mercedes after giving 2 back to back great seasons with Ferrari.
Sourced have confirmed that Sainz wanted Redbull and after the first few races it was almost sure that Sergio Perez ( Redbull’s 2nd Driver ) was going to get sacked because of his poor performance but things unfolded in a different way for Sainz as Redbull decided to keep Perez for another year.
On the other hand, the second option for Sainz was Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton is on his way out and will be taking Sainz’s seat at Ferrari which makes room for Sainz at Mercedes. Though Mercedes was interested in Carlos Sainz at the start of the season their interest started to decline for two reasons first Carlos was waiting too long for Red Bull’s decision which was not appreciated by Mercedes and second their Young prodigy in Formula 2 Kimi Antonelli was in headlines with his performances in F2 so, Mercedes decided to go with a young driver to replace lewis rather than going for sainz.
